The event will screen films by finalists of the Student Showcase of Films on LED screens. Between each screening, the filmmakers will host Q&A’s. Event also features live music by student rock bands, a visual arts display and comedic and dance performances. Take the Clematis Trolley to LOBBY NIGHTCLUB at 9 pm following the event.

Event: Opening Night Film - STONE OF DESTINY
Charles Martin Smith, who wrote, and directed the film, is scheduled to appear.

PBIFF will kick off the 14th Annual Festival with the opening night film, complete with a Hollywood-style red carpet film screening.

insight into the industry. Joel Zwick directed MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING, the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time, produced by Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson and Gary Goetzman. Mr. Zwick is recognized as Hollywood’s most prolific director of episodic television, having the direction of five hundred and twenty-five episodes to his credit.

We’ll take a backwards look at the film business, starting with how to find and reach audiences and moving all the way back to presenting your idea. This seminar is designed to give you practical information and tools to get your film from the page to the screen.

Who is your audience? How do you know that? How do you get your film to them? We’ll look at distribution deals, sales reps, niche markets, and self-distribution models in order to answer those questions.
Session: Financing
Time: 10 to 11 a.m.
We’ll hear tips on how to allocate and manage your budget, how to structure a deal, and specific experiences from filmmakers working with budgets ranging from a handful of peanuts to millions of dollars.
Session: Pitching!

We’ll discuss raising money in today’s economy, understanding the motivation of film financers, and then launch into a tournament of pitches with feedback from our panelists and your peers!
Each presentation will conclude with a break out session so participants can approach panelists for project-specific advice.
